For me, this song by one of the less-known bands from the Elephant Six collective (Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal) is a serious contender for the perfect love song.
The simple lyrics might seem cheesy on paper, but with the lo-fi, noisy recording and Scott Spillane's unique voice the song comes across as honest and powerful instead.

And your lungs breathe just like lungs
But your voice gives me goose bumps when you call my name
And I want to goose bump again
